Diverse? Does that mean those awful foreign types? Does Mosman have to suffer them as well? I mean, I’m just getting used to spaghetti, and all that garlic.

It’s bad enough they’ve taken over Chatswood let alone all those awful western suburbs they show on the teev where they have all that crime.

I have been a resident in Mosman for the bulk of the last 22 years and see that Mosman is really falling behind in the area of every day shopping. I refer to retail food and particularly to Bridgepoint Shopping Centre. I am finding I now travel out of the area to Stocklands Balgowlah or Cremorne IGA. Despite the recent improvements to Franklins Supermarket , the range and selection available is woeful when compared to it’s competitors. The Deli in Franklins now is tragic and a waste of space. Harris Farm has a stronghold and can charge what they like for inferior produce that’s been in cold storage too long. We have some other good retailers on offer around Mosman but the hassle of getting to them and the limited parking available in these places makes it difficult for time poor people. The carpark at Bridge Point is revolting in summer being so hot and stuffy I’m surprised people have not been fainting! It is so heavily used now due to the trolley locks that were installed that it’s difficult to even get a park at times. It’s time Mosman looked at attracting and allowing the development of a really good shopping centre. A centre offering quality produce at reasonable prices (which is exactly what Stocklands Balgowlah does) and being big enough and attractive enough to encourage an abundance of quality food retailers to come into the area and operate under the one roof. This would go a long way to help keep people who live in Mosman, shop in Mosman.
